Troubleshooting steps
-Uninstall Adobe Acrobat X (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-or-remove-apps-and-programs-in-windows-4b55f974-2cc6-2d2b-d092-5905080eaf98) and then go down to the Repair Adobe step after doing this if you have both version on your comptuer
- Go into Task Manager and close all adobe products. This includes Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Acrobat Distiller, and Adobe Creative Cloud and try again.
- Repair adobe (Before starting this, please close all adobe products to insure best result, look at bullet point above to see all adobe products to choose)
- Open up Adobe Acrobat
- Click on the menu drop down
- Go to the help drop down and under the help down choose the "Repair Installs" and follow the steps from there
- Check Adobe for Updates
- Open up Adobe Acrobat
- Click on the menu drop down
- Go to the help drop down and under the help down choose the "Check for Updates" and follow the steps from there
- Change the Register for Adobe
- Close all adobe products
- Click Start > Run.
- Type Regedit in the Open field and then click OK.
- Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application
- Take a backup: Right-click the Application key and then click Export. In the Export Registry File dialog box, enter a file name and click Save. Remember where you saved this so if you have to revert back it works better
- Change the value of the key from AcroViewA23 to AcroViewR23 (where the last two digits or numbers depend on the Acrobat version installed on your computer; For example, for Acrobat 2020, it will be 20):
Double-click the Default under Name. The Edit String dialog box is displayed.
In the Value data field, change the value to AcroViewR23 and then click OK. - Close the Registry Editor by clicking the Close icon (X) at the upper-right corner of the dialog box. Relaunch Acrobat and see whether the problem is resolved.
- Check for updates on you computer
- Search settings in the start menu and choose the settings windows
- In settings search for "Check for Updates"
- Choose the "Check for Updates" option
- Click the "Check for Update" button first
- Then click the "Check online for updates from Microsoft Updates
- Then click the "View optional updates
- Drop down the "Driver updates" drop down and then check off all option updates
- Then hit the "Download and install" button. Follow the instructions from there
